In August 2020 the New Zealand Government directed Te Waihanga to undertake a review into the Transmission Gully project.
About the Review
Te Waihanga was directed by the New Zealand Government to oversee an interim project review that focused on the Transmission Gully project to date.
The Review investigated how the Transmission Gully project agreement was awarded for the price agreed, and whether the risks identified then were reasonably allocated and appropriately considered.
The Transmission Gully review was led by an independent international expert reviewer with specialised skills and experience, with support from two local peer reviewers.
Project reviews are designed to ensure Te Waihanga and stakeholders learn from the successes and challenges of infrastructure projects.

Sir Michael John Cullen is a former New Zealand politician. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, also Minister of Finance, Minister of Tertiary Education, and Attorney-General. He was the Deputy Leader of the Labour Party from 1996 until November 2008. He resigned from Parliament in April 2009, to become the deputy chairman of New Zealand Post from 1 November 2009 and chairman from 1 November 2010.
